These kind of songs I called them folklore  voodoo, which I think that's what they are. First time I heard one was in 2007 and I liked most of them since.

Below, I tried to put down a short lyric of what the song is talking about. Note that I write it down the way the artist saying it in the song, which is a musical way. But "lend me the horse; The horse is sick; The horse can't be saddled" I think he meant "Lend me your horse; My horse is sick; My horse can't be saddled".  The song started by the chorus.

"Wai Manman" Altido_ Haitian Folklore Vodou music

I have been listening to that song for about a year now. 

 But I'm not sure how long has it been around though, but I liked it from the day that I heard it..The root of the song sounds like a good accord between vodou and old Haitian kompa.  I sleep with this song sometimes.

Black Blox- "I Don't know Anybody Else" song

WOW! This is something right here.What more can I say again about a wonderful song like this one: It's just simply beautiful.  Hearing the lady vocal signing and wining makes me want her.:). Yeah, I think this is Martha Wash voice.  She's one of a rare kind of singer that can delivered that kind of vocal.  Kind of song that makes my ride or driving better when I listen to.

I remember this song somewhere around the year 80s. I can picture one place that

always comes to my mind each time I hear the song: Ave Des Date somewhere in Gonaives,Haiti at "Kay Me", one of my family's house. There, I can recall the song was playing one night and one of our friends named Evans was doing the "Move Your Body" dance.   

Meanwhile, I don't mind much about who sing a song for as long as it sounds good enough to make me feel something or get into my mind. This song is one of the good example. For instance, the name of the person who sang this song was never known to me until last year through YouTube.com. 

"Who's Crying Now" Journey

I wonder who's crying now. Just another kind of song that I really enjoy.

I play it at home and also when driving in a car, and I even like it the most when riding on the bus. Usually when I ride on the bus and listen music, I like  looking around the streets, people, the trees,  look the sky, etc.. I can really feel the beauty of life. looking at people face while listen a good song, I can imagine their beauty in the most positive way. I can feel what they feel.

Eric Brouta "Doudou"-- A Very Nice Zouk Song

This is one of the best zouk song of all time. It's very classy, sultry, and grooving to listen and dance.

I'm not sure when this song came out, but I started listen to it in 2007, and I liked since then. I listen to it when ride in a car, at home, day, night and bedtime. It's just a nice song..

Freestyle "Music" Nostalgic of 1980's Break Dance in Gonaives,Haiti: Stevie B, Johny O, Noel, etc..

"Beat" is the name of the genre we used to call these kind of songs in Gonaives,Haiti around in 80s. Each time I hear

 these musics they remind me of radio stations in Haiti, especially "Radio Super Star" Haiti. Most importantly, they remind me of my youth, school time, and my city Gonaives. Back than in Gonaives,Haiti, break dance was very popular and so these Freestyle musics.  These musics were more popular then Hip Hop and R&B were in Haiti throughout the year 1980s.

Music is universal and in Gonaives,Haiti it had proven that it's true, and  the culture of Haitian, unlike some people who do not know Haiti describe it on TV and the Internet, it's indeed the opposite in many ways. For example, Haiti, in my opinion drawn from experienced of living there, it's one of the world most mixed culture when it comes to many things, especially musics.

Anyway, this is memory here. Not of the people who sang these songs, but of what the songs mean to me as someone who grew up with them and the city of Gonaives around the year 1980-1992.

Seleena Johnson Featuring Common -- Song "Bullseyes (Suddenly) "

A song that sadly affected me each time I'm listening to it, but good at the same time. And, it also makes me reflect on back in the day. I can picture the stormy weather, shelter, and a dark night when listen to it.   But on top of that, I like the voice and the way the woman ( Seleena Johnson )  sings and the triumphing instrumental way of plays. However, I'm not too keen about the rap part.  Although, I am not much into the same thought of what the song is talking about, which is love between man and a woman, but as in many songs that I like,  my mind  is translated them in a different way, so it is about this song. My thought is more about life, the living past, experiences, places I have been, people I have known and missed, etc..After all, it's a great song. I played it a lot in my car and home, sometimes when I'm sleeping

I Refuse To Back Down_I Won't Back Down- By Tom Pretty_ Dedicated For True Fighters Everywhere

Though they stand me up by the gate of hell,

 I won't back down. Yeah, this's one of those songs that dedicated to those true fighters out there. 

"NOT TO THE FAKE SO -CALLED HEROES WE HEAR OR SEEN EVERYDAY ON TV"

I like the song because I'm myself a true fighter of Human Rights Abuses and many other related type, so I take this song as though as it was made for me to shout down those abusers with.  So big up to all TRUE fighters out there who won't back down from fighting for equal justice! Big up to this song!
